GENEALOGIES

To disclose the work of playwrighters and extend the knowledge about our dramatists, CITRU (Rodolfo Usigli National Theater Investigation Center) adds to the effort of this site with a section called Genealogies. In this section you will find a brief semblance and representative drama authors which work has been of great influence in theater and have open a pad for future generations in our country.
In this space you will find from classic playwrighter Rodolfo Usigli, Salvador Novo o Xavier Villaurrutia, to dramatists that still prolong their theater production like Hugo Hiriart or Enrique Mijares, which have transcended and contributed to the formation of novel playwrighters, due to their unique style and a precise selection of themes.
The selection criteria of these dramatists is the result of the restlessness initiative of CITRU's investigative team. This list does not pretend to be a canon, but a guide to place fundamental national playwrighters which CITRU has studied and will extend further.
Each dramatist includes an essay made by a dedicated investigator, as well as links to published material from the author by CITRU.
We hope to promote Mexican dramaturgy, and boost this tool to broaden our study of the Mexican theater.
We invite you to visit our official web site, as well as our new page Online Investigations, where you will find the best of CITRU on the web as well as navigate through our virtual publications.
